although we have all seen it before , I still like seeing the IDC projections of the director product, currently about 10% of a $500 mill market and forecast to be 30% of a 3.5 billion market in 2003. Although brocade and mcdata are rumored to be working on a director product , noone has seen anything yet. we were told that even if the technology is there , it just ttakes time to get there. ancor started on its director product in late 1998. so we may have a year or year and a half lead. ancor may get the kind of lead in this huge market that brocade has had initially in the 8/16 port switch. when I asked if emc had expressed an interest in the director switch, ken said "yes". when I asked if he could add "color" to that, somewhat mocking the fund reps language, he said no as we would expect.

"...Partly , I suppose , to deal with brocade FUD.."

Speaking of which, anyone care to speculate what Greg Reyes's "really big news yet to come" (in the StockHouse article) might be?

Seems like it's more than just the usual hype, and given that he once again goes out of his way to gloat and denigrate QLogic/ANCR, it just seemed to me that perhaps it might be bad news for the good guys (us). Or am I just paranoid?
