[World DRAM Price] Spot Prices for Large Users Rise in Europe May 17, 2000 (TOKYO) -- Prices of 128Mb DRAM microchips for large-volume users had been declining in the European and Asian markets, but have recently turned around in Europe. The spot prices in Europe were higher than the contract prices, which boosted the prices for large users. A similar situation is occurring in the Asian market as well, and the prices for large-volume users are expected to reverse soon. A worldwide DRAM price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR showed that the 30-day rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) for large-volume users between March 30 and April 28, 2000 were US$14.41 in North America, US$11.88 in Europe and US$12.54 in Asia. ICIS-LOR is based in London, Houston and Singapore. As compared with the results of the previous week (through April 21), the prices rose by 0.83 percent in North America, increased by 2.36 percent in Europe and declined by 4.10 percent in Asia. As for prices of memory modules, the spot prices for 128MB DIMMs (PC133) rose by 5.80 percent from the previous week to US$106.11 in North America, increased 2.38 percent to US$104.55 in Europe, and were up 2.90 percent to US$97.81 in Asia. nikkeibp.asiabiztech.com
