Mark:

Thank you too for the response. FWIW, I suspect that the Judge did not think that JR and HC were inherently bad people or he would have imposed a much larger fine. I do not know either of them personally so I have no opinion on that (and I won't rehash my opinions based on the public statements -- it serves no purpose at this point). I do expect that there will be far fewer press releases and public statement by JR and HC (which may not be a bad thing) regardless of where SOLVD goes from here.

It is, however, unfortunate that many of the folks who lost money (some very large amounts) did not have your level of technical knowledge. Although I do not agree with everything Buffett says, his "I don't buy what I don't understand" has a great deal of merit. On the other hand, if most folks had used that standard as a litmus test for any and every investment they made, I doubt that we would have seen the overall rise in the markets over the last few years.

When the Buffett rule is not followed (and I am as guilty as most with some investments), one has to be willing to accept a total loss. There are also times when one thinks one understands, but really knows or understands very little. (I have been guilty of that too.) It makes a great case for diversification which makes the mistakes we all make recoverable.

Enough of my babbling.....I truly hope that you and others eventually recover some or all of the SOLVD losses either in SOLVD or elsewhere.
