Can I make one recommendation?

I would encourage all potential digital camera purchases to go out and buy a 64 MB CompactFlash card and an ImageMate with a USB connector. Then go into your local camera dealers and take the cameras for a test drive with your CF card. I digital camera is a big investment. You should be comfortable with the purchase. Don't feel hurried into a decision. Above all, don't let them talk you into a Mavica!!!

Afterwards, take the pictures home and look at them with a photo editing software package like Microsoft's Picture It! or just use your web browser as a default. Remember that all digital cameras will come with editing software, so don't spend a lot of money on one. (I think Picture It! is a great purchase and it will probably run you less than $30.00). See what kind of performance you get with each camera. Spin the dials to see if the interface is "intuitive" enough for you intuition. Put it through some tests. Then when you make your decision you will be making it with a working knowledge of the feel and the performance of the camera.

Any your going to need an ImageMate and a CF card, anyway!
