chic, yes, my laptop has direct connections for whatever i want to attach. I was so used to the corporate style docking station that I had not really noticed it, but the big boxy docking stations started going the way of the dodo when the really thin CDROMs came along. With that setup you are well protected and I think we are in fact seeing more and more setups like yours. many ooffices now have 17" LCD/TFT monitors because the space saved is huge with the larger sizes.
