LOL! That is a good one. Yes, some recollection is like an archeological dig. The nice thing is when the clay preserves the object of one's search intact, and in pristine condition......

Did you ever see Fellini's "Roma"? There is a sequence where he is filming a dig beneath the city, beautiful murals that have been buried over the centuries, in good condition. It is breathtaking---- and then suddenly, without warning, exposure to the air rapidly destroys the pigment, and the paintings begin to disappear before one's eyes. It is a terrible thing to watch.......
