JDN,

Optima makes two kinds of batteries. The yellow top is a deep-cycle battery and the red top is a normal battery.

The yellows are usually used in situations that can require pulling the charge in the battery down to zero without any damage to the battery. i,e. trolling motors, race cars w/o alternators, and running a winch on a Jeep.

You can use it in your Cherokee with no problems. It is slightly overkill, but who cares if it was free. Since they are sealed, the great thing about Optima batteries is that they can be used upside down or in an enclosed area without the dangers another lesser quality battery may cause.

Congrats! on your prize,

arno

Congratulations, JDN! How did you win your prize? How was the weather? Did you stay in the State Park or visit that area?

Cheers,

Mephisto

PS: I have to go down that way soon.
