2004; Record Year in 2000 to Reach Almost $2 Billion

Business Editors

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 17, 2000--According to Cahners
In-Stat Group, a high-tech market research firm, the worldwide Network Storage market,
which includes both Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN)
solutions, will reach over $10 billion in end-use sales by 2004, resulting in a CAGR
(Compound Annual Growth Rate) of more than 50 percent.

2000 will be a record year for this market -- with In-Stat expecting it to reach almost $2
billion.

"The growing need for intelligently managed and optimized storage solutions will fuel the
growth of Network Storage not only in the service provider space, but in all sizes of
businesses as well. The result will be an exceptional year for the market in 2000," said
Lauri Vickers, industry analyst for In-Stat's Voice and Data Communications Service.

"Despite the various wrinkles that still need to be ironed out, Network Storage will
finally live up to its billing this year due to a real market need."

In-Stat's analysis also found:

-- The relative costs of purchasing storage and its efficient and

effective management will accelerate the adoption rates of
storage solutions, as the Internet subscriber growth drives
demand.
-- This market is attracting a wide range of vendors from many
industries, including storage and computing leaders as well as
a number of Network Storage-specific start-ups.
-- Year to year growth through 2004 will be driven almost equally
by NAS and SAN solutions.
