thanks for the update.....

my chinese connection tells me that every word of the new president will be analyzed by the Communists. As of Saturday, either a new "set of words" will be agreed upon(ie. one china policy) or the tension will ratchet up again....they are concerned that a "dumb blunder" by someone in the military on either side will cause a bigger problem...The new president(taiwanese) has gone around to all the generals in the military and tried to get their support...remember that all the generals have supported the "other party" for years...the big question: will the military fight? or just roll over....many "mainland chinese"on taiwan do not want independence .....however, Chen was elected to stand up to the Red chinese...his vice president -a women- was a political prisoner of the communists....complicated issues...Rich
