Well, nobody expects a biochemist to think like an accountant. However, a company has to deploy common sense or it will not be successful. LGND has had a horrible burn rate a horrible financing (they didn't use the last runup for a secondary), work on drugs for small markets is lousy in marketing and buying up crappy companies (Seragen). By the time they will have a drug for a large market,they have already diluted their capital too much or will be bought up for cheap. There are better companies out there, IMHO. Examples for good companies are VRTX (midcap) and NPSP (microcap).
