If this were true, and achievable on any sort of cost effective basis, (I am assuming the local loop uses 26 gauge), then they wouldn't need nor would good business practice dictate they give it to Lucent to 'evaluate' it.

And I don't wish to be indelicate here, but it sounds like the company is less in the business of manufacturing transmission systems, and more in the business of

...manufacturing press releases. :)))
