Last month I attended the Patriot Scientific annual meeting. (If you recall, VxWorks is ported to the Patriot chip.) An exec from SUNW was a guest speaker at the meeting. He was asked about competitors to PTSC's chip, and he said "None" - except perhaps Fujitsu. Patriot recently got a rather important design win from Universal Processing Systems for use in e-commerce devices. (You can read more about this at the Patriot website: ptsc.com) Patriot is offering what they call the "VxPresso Platform" - chip from PTSC, VxWorks from WIND and Java technology from SUNW.
