reno offense to the stock
In all honesty, all stocks can be bought both long and shorted, depending upon when and how long. I always think it's silly when shareholders get insulted because someone is shorting a stock they own long: it isn't really an insult to their intelligence for owning it, it's just how things are at any given moment. Personally I've been a failure at shorting because it makes me nervous and I don't stick with the short long enough. But I've observed that almost any trade, long or short, can result in a profit if you were willing to wait a while!

This excludes some of the riskier companies that go down and stay there. Unfortunately, on the other side, almost nothing goes up and stays there!
