Maybe it is market related. I've also been impressed at how little volume there's been in the market lately, despite price moves I would have expected would bring on the daytraders and mo-mo's. Maybe some of those folks really were flushed out in the recent decline. That would be a good thing, long-term.

I think the quality here at SI is MUCH better than, say, Yahoo!, and that's especially true on the SUNW thread. Rudedog, Cheryl, QwikSand, you, and others clearly put some thought into what you write (usually <g>), and things generally stay pretty civil.

I also read misc.invest.stocks, and that's mostly a contrarian indicator -- plenty of pump 'n dump, but little of practical use except as a red flag.

As usual, JMHO.

I would love to be able to read SI with my Agent newsreader. I can process a lot of information in short order. The usenet investor discussions have always been lousy and I always wondered why myself. "All About SUNW" is always on-topic(okay almost always) informative and reasonable. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Two weeks ago, before I went on vacation to San Diego, I heard that on-line trading volumes had dropped 30%. This would indicate a lot less people interested in using SI. In addition, some of the SI conversations have been a "little" shrill as people have been squeezed by market forces. For instance, the QCOM crew seems to be taking pleasure in bashing any stock that they feel is a threat to their investment. This tends to dissuade people from posting when you are opening yourself to a personal attack.

Good to be back,

david
