JMHO: <"raised floor", "edge" etc>

"raised floor" : jargon for what is typically a centralized controlled IT environment with sophisticated data centers, historically originating from the mainframe days. still prevalent.

"the edge" : the computer processing power is at the periphery (closer to the users), drawing on a central/replicated storage topology.

You got it. Raised floor culture, mentality, etc., is the mainframe world.

The "edge", if I understand it, is outside the core IT department where minicomputers have tended to survive.
