Not a bad idea, Sam (your name brings a chuckle...I was just reading "Green Eggs and Ham" to my 3-year old!..."Sam I am"...). We have a nice little "community" here (the "best kept secret on SI"), and it would be interesting to know more about our fellow posters.

About me: I'm a Philosopher of Religion by profession and avocation, so spend most of my waking moments considering the existence of God, the meaning of life, life after death, etc. I teach a popular class on Death and Dying (have written a textbook for the course), which keeps me ever mindful of the bigger issues in life.

My passion, however, as it has been since I was 12 and was first introduced by my unlucky-investor father (who lost a small fortune in Sumitumo Bank) to the mysterious stock tables in the business section of our local paper (Santa Cruz, CA), is the stock market.

My Scottish wife and I have the one daughter, who is the absolute joy of our existence. We live in exile from all forms of culture in northeast Ohio, but spend as much time as possible in the British Isles (I'll be there this summer on a research fellowship). I'm a grad of Princeton, Oxford and wonderful little University in Oregon called Willamette.

I have no real mundane pursuits, though I will admit, after too many glasses of wine, to an unusual fondness for jazz music.

TC.

Hi Sam (and Thomas),

As you can see, my name is David Weis (aka daw, aka Rhett). I have followed this thread for about 3-4 months and I guess your development of a trading system got me interested, Thomas. I'm not for sure how I first found this thread ---- maybe someone directed me over here.

Anyway, I'm self-employed and feel like I have about 4 jobs: database consultant (I am an Informix DBA), landlord, and daytrader in training. Hmmmm......*grin* ....that's only 3.

Several years ago, I followed a trading system being developed by Kevin on the Tech Stock Options thread and he got my curiosity up so much that I dug up the Neural Network stuff I studied in school in 1991 and began devising a system. Then, my database consulting exploded and it got pushed into a folder and later into file 13.

So, again, TC you receive the credit of arousing my interest in looking at charts in various ways. I don't consider myself a good chart reader but can understand graphically if someone (or something) else draws the picture. I guess that's why a picture is worth a thousand words.

I have access to RT quotes and various charting software and would like to help when&where I can.

My girlfriend and I have a wonderful 20 month old daughter who came to Louisville, KY on November 19th of last year from China:
louisville-i-market.com
She is a big, big joy in my (our) life.

David
