They got into gold mining in the early 80s - I'm not sure of the details - but they had a small property in the Yukon or NYT I think. The key step they made was acquiring Camflo Mines in about 1983 - because they acquired, with Camflo, the mining expertise they needed.

I think the Gold Standard suit is way in the past - to do with Barrick's acquisition of the Mercur Mine. Gold Standard was promoted on VCR in the basis of the suit. I can't remember how it was resolved.
