Ditchdigger, Regarding CHK's 1-9 Della (Cement Field):
The news of the initial production rate hit Dwight's Drilling Wire on March 31, 2000. I therefore doubt that this is what caused yesterday's action in the stock, which I attribute to the spike in NYMEX prices and the fact that CHK had been lagging recently (it is, after all, supremely leveraged to natgas prices, IMO). I also believe that there are several other productive zones under the well besides the Springer which is currently producing. Other wells in the section produce or have produced from three other shallower zones.

Also contained in the Dwight's Drilling Wire is a statement that "Chesapeake reports it has budgeted to drill 10 gross (seven net) wells in the Cement field and the Knox/Chitwood Field areas during 2000.

Further, on May 8 CHK made an increased density application for the section where the 1-9 Della is located.

I follow this as I own minerals under the 1-9 Della <VBG>, as well a good chunk of CHK stock.

Regards. "

Kenny

If ya like shallow wells, and some deep ones too, read the 10k on EPEX. They are planning on 25 to 30 new wells this year. I have not bought the stock yet, but am watching anxiously. There seems to be some problem with hedging (which I don't understand) Production was up 8% and they have two more wells that are supposed to "spud" this month.

3 brokers are at "strong buy" with an eps growth of over 100% for the year. Two profitable Q's under their belt with .22 estimate for year end.
