I havnït heard of them too until I read the conference news.
I think SIRI didnït publish it before. To me it seems very interesting to hear that now, after SIRI has engaged some other chip manufacturers too, Lucent is doing its best to
produce their chips in time. Remember that in 2/99 SIRI announced that Lucent wasnït able to deliver on track, but had to postpone their chip production for at least nine months!

My question here is: why? Probably they were not
interested in producing SIRIs self developed digital radio chips besides their own chips (PAC), with which they want to win the new digital radio standard. (Note that XMSR uses
these PAC chips). But then, I think, there might be a good possibility that Lucent was feeling that SIRIs technology is superior to their own PAC. (Otherwise there would be no need to block them!).
