<<from my mother's antique, coverless, and much-splattered Joy of Cooking >>

I have my mother's copy also, from 1964. It also has about 100 extra recipies from my grandmother stuffed inside the pages. It's really a shame as Sue eats TV dinners and I usually fry something up and haven't made anything out of the book in years.

We really should live next door to each other. I LOVE recipe books and have a huge antique piesafe filled with them- from my mother's antique, coverless, and much-splattered Joy of Cooking and Fanny Farmer's Original Boston Cooking School- 1896 to strange and wondrous local publications that I pick up when we travel, like the Greek one, or the Dominican Republic resort Casa de Campo. Yes, I agree... we *really* should live next door... It would be waaaaay cool... I could spy on your Greek party with my Bushnell Field Scope... (-: No, I wouldn't really do that, But I WOULD come over and borrow your recipe books... I hope you realize that. But that's OK, Because I probably have things that you would like to borrow too... Like...uhm.... Perhaps one of my kites... (but remember, the Star Kite is wild, devilish, playful and takes a lot of concentration to fly). Or maybe some puppets (OH MAN!! Why didn't I think of this before!! I even have a wooden horse marionette that someone could use to do a little Trojan Horse number!) Or perhaps a mandolin or something... In any event, I'm sure it would all work out well. We would get along famously.... Trust me on this...
