tim.cabbage- are you psychic?

no, but i had a feeling you were going to ask.

i had a thought today, and see if this makes sense to you... (anyone) i don't like debt and i like to pay for things "up front" as much as possible. with the timing of the recent market downturn, i've ended up paying a lot of taxes on gains that i no longer have. this has raised my "basis" on my portfolio considerably. now correct me if i'm wrong but if i can keep doing this for a few years my basis will be so high and my taxes paid on gains will be so high that i won't have to give a hoot about the taxable gain implications of stock trades for quite awhile... and when my portfolio gets back up to my basis... that money shall be all mine to give to my friends as i wish. no?

what a country!! what a concept!! what a strategy!! i'm a genius!! :-)
