OT
chic,
re:netscape

the 100% cpu usage is due to the phantom netscape which occurs often.

to verify this, next time your machine slows down or crashes, exit netscape. Bring up your task manager. You should still have it listed!

Before you restart netscape make sure you have killed all of the previous ones.

netscape does the same thing for Linux also, so it appears across different platforms.

I use IE4. IMO-stay away from IE5. Trust me.

Speaking of lawyers getting out of hand, did I hear right this mornings that Reno and her goon squad are now going after
WCOM???

Chic, I think they are just looking into stoping the WCOM/FON merger. How could WCOM by itself be considered a monopoly?

Tim

Dear Chic:

I have used netscape on Linux for 4 years. I have used it on many flavors of UNIX on many different CPUS. It runs fine. I suspect Microsoft just makes it look buggy on Windows. On my PC, on Win98, Netscape does not crash Windows. Windows crashes all by itself, especially when it is running MM tasks in the background. Netscape does not hinder Microsoft from crashing (of course). What version of Windows and Netscape are you using?

Pete

chic hearne:

Re: "Netscape is the worst product I have EVER used. It crashed my computer 3 times this morning already. "

Comment: Seems symptomatic of someone who needs a smooth "spry athy"! Market directionless so far...Need a spark to put some value under my May 85's!

chic,

Reno is the Attorney General; its the DOJ that will determine any anti-trust violations in re to the merger with Sprint......don't you think you've trashed the poor woman enough. You may not agree with her politics but she does work her butt off.

RE: chic

<<<FYI- AOL owns Netscape, but uses IE. That tells you how bad a product it is when AOL doesn't even use it.>>>

While reading these posts I have The Charlie Rose show on and Rose is interviewing Steve Case. Not 5 minutes after reading your post Case said the reason they use IE is because Microsoft forces them to use it if they want to be bundled with Windows. He thinks Netscape is a better product. Another example of Microsoft's monopolistic practices.
