straight life,

Your anecdote has no connection with my anecdote other than the coincidence that both portfolios were shortlived.

I should add that the main reason the Motley Fool short-term portfolio was pulled is because the daily writings and the related discussion in the portfolio's thread had little or no educational quality, certainly nothing compared to the other portfolios. I believe that portfolio is the only one that has ever been pulled. As a testament to the Fool outlook on real-money portfolios, though their value-based Boring Portfolio underperformed the indexes for several years (if not even now) it remains online. That's because related writings are considered to be highly informative and educational for the long-term investor.
