tp, did you happen the read Bell Nexxia's announcement about deploying the first commercial optical ethernet network to connect the enterprise to the WAN. Do you know where LU and Cisco are in this technology? 10 gigabit ethernet switches will be a cheap alternative to SONET ADMs to connect the enterprise to the WAN and should be available when a final standard is adopted in 2002. Optical ethernet will be important.
