re: 1$ for 180 leap for 2002:

Sort of like a lottery ticket (which are very popular). If you win, you win big, but the odds are not good. Hope springs eternal. Would we get there by a tripling of the PE, or the EPS? Let's see, that would make the market cap how many trillions?

2003 LEAPs available next monday. I'm thinking 90s. Far enough out-of-the-money to be fairly cheap, but at a strike price that will certainly be well in-the-money (even in the event of an intervening recession, and a breakup) by January 2003.

When I bought BSX LEAPs, I took 5 months (10/99-2/00) to accumulate my position. First (the most important part), I did nothing while the stock slid from 47 to 17. Waited for a double bottom on volume, and for all the analysts to finish downgrading. Then, I bought in increments (25s, 2002), whenever the stock dipped below 20. Now at 24, and those LEAPs are up 50%, and still have 20 more months to go. I'll take the same approach with MSFT LEAPs.

Nice that 65 held, again.
