Poet, That is very interesting. At what age did you adopt her? I would think in this day and age of individuality she would be very popular since she has a different look?
Sometimes I try to imagine how different it would be to have adopted children since I have several friends who are considering that option and I always come to the point where it gets very complicated from a parent standpoint. I know it would be different, but how would I deal with things under those circumstances.

Would I feel so fortunate to have them that I'd allow things that I shouldn't?

Would the fact that they could use the "You're not my real Dad" hurt more than anything ever could?

Would I make the same f*&%ing mistakes I do now or would I be more patient?

Would I be tempted to throw them out in the heat of the moment and justify it?

Would my empathy for their situation and what they might think about their biological parents giving them up make me feel so bad that I would be unable to be an effective disciplinarian?

Just some thoughts...

THanks for sharing with us..You just moved up another notch on the coolness scale in my book

!:)
