Slider

Personally, I do not use margin and I get nervous if I get down below 25% cash, but I do not consider it any of my business how jim p., diana g. or anyone else invests. I like their ideas and insights, but I nor anyone else is going to to run out and change our investment styles because jim and diana use full margin, or George Cole uses mutual funds, or whatever.
Why is it so important to you that everyone succumbs to your viewpoints? You said it yourself several messages ago: "Why do I bother?".
Why do you bother?

Well Mr Bubbeliciousness, I took some profitinskies today. Sold about 2/3 of PKD. I own the rest for free - he he.

Sold my SCSAY (that stock is just a fabulous trader). Even lightened on TESOF a bit.

Back to lots of cash and the Rotation Rhumba. ;o}

OT - Personally I don't care who catches the biggest fish as long as I continue catch fish. I was/am interested in margin usage only to gauge people's bullish/bearishness on this sector and the market. But all this discussion on the issue is getting to be overkill.

Let me be the first to say I will no longer discuss it (or at least discuss it less) since it has little bearing on our investment ideas.

Hi Slider, I mostly made my points in my previous post, but to answer specifics from your post ---

--Yes, the broker I use now calculates margin availability based on the previous day's close. This has been my prior experience also. When I use the wording "I believe" it is an acknowlegement that while my information is limited in that I am not personally aware of how All brokers handle this, I presume that the method I mentioned is commonplace. I could be wrong. Should we do a survey?

I am Pleased to be lumped together in your post with jim p, a man who has shared his experience and insider's knowledge of the oil business with this thread to the benefit of all here.
--And who seems to me to be an honest and honorable man who shows no sign I can see of being driven to distort the truth here out of some internal dysfunctional need.

Slider, I can't help being amused that you (of all people!) accuse others of being liars.

regards,
diana
