True. It could be a long time before we establish a clear uptrend in the general markets. SP500 and Midcap400 look like they want to bust out to the upside, but there is no telling how much they have in the tank when they do.

I have noticed that stocks that IBD rates 90 or better for EPS growth have been cranking along pretty well over the last 3 or 4 weeks. Check the IBD new highs list for stocks with EPS of 90 or better and notice how the same ones are showing up 2 or 3 times a week.

From May 1998 to about 3 months ago, it seems that the general averages have been outperforming individual stocks. (i.e. the narrowing of the bull market). This trend seems to be the opposite now FWIW.
