The hummingbirds finally arrived yesterday... 3 days late... Don't worry, I'm not blaming you for the delay... They made their own travel arrangements and it didn't involve airmail. However, they arrived in a very feisty mood. Sort of like Greeks and Trojans. Lots of fighting and territorial displays going on outside my window. The males are doing their little "pendulum" act where they fly in a giant arc...maybe 20-25 feet in each swing... trying to outdo each other with the velocity of their zooming and their tweeting and twittering. Seems to be a boy-hummingbird thing. The females are just spending a lot of time at the feeders... probably getting their energy levels up before they get stuck sitting on eggs for the next while. Sure is good to see them back though... shows that some things *do* go according to the big plan.
