Dave - I quickly read through the Talkback thread on ZDNet. Mostly reputing Joe Greps "Athlon 1 GHz actually = 340 MHz" and the "PR Rating" but still some very nice enthusiasm for AMD's products. Everytime I read general AMD boards (ie. non-SI) I am reminded of the much higher signal:noise ratio here (and the OT is much higher quality as well), the more civil environment, and the joy of reading messages 10 at a time rather than the world-wide wait (even with cable).

We live in more interesting times with the Athlon -- and I believe with the Mustang on the horizon the excitement will continue throughout 2000.

5ave22, In bridge we use a term, 'sitting in the bushes with an opening bid', which means quietly masking your position until you see what the others do. In this case I feel excess hoopla before the event might be counterproductive as it might spur Intel into a counteroffensive...or at least increase the Intel counter offensive as I am sure Intel will not stand idly by, so I am quite content to let AMD wait until D-Day.....what else would they call it?
