I'd place to buy say a few dollars below the bid and watch the orders above mine that were much smaller be executed in minutes so they could get down to my big order. And I assume all of this is with the "underlying" remaining relatively constant? Interesting. At the end of February, I placed several large short orders. Some like the one on HGSI were filled. Others like the one on INCY were not.:( Both seemed at the time to me to be equally attractive to the MMs. Hanging around...and still learning lurqer
