Not necessarily. Jeanette could buy some cheap shares on the open market to replace borrowed shares sold earlier, at a higher price.

Hey, that's called a short sale, isn't it? And a good one, too. I wish Dorian had lent me several million shares.

She wouldn't have ... sold them, would she? If so, Dorian would have to accept money in lieu of the return of his shares.
