Gasoline prices surprisingly go up

chron.com

The higher cost of making this new blend is expected to have an impact on the price of gasoline in Houston and other cities with serious air pollution problems. On Thursday, a federal appeals court upheld an appeal of a patent decision allowing Unocal to collect millions from other oil companies for infringing on its patents for making this blend.

Dunham said earlier this week that European refineries are not likely to spend the money to meet U.S. specifications.

"Previously we were importing some gasoline from our European refineries into the United States, but with the more stringent requirements, I don't think any European gasoline will be imported into the U.S. after the second quarter,"
he said.

E&P Analyst downgrades on valuation this morning - WHODATHUNKIT !?!?!

Can you imagine ?

... between earnings periods, right off of a major cycle run up, at the peak of what has historically been unsustainable commodity prices, right before an OPEC meeting and into the face of a potential 7th consecutive Fed Hike - they dare say "take SOME (I've never said "all" - just take the margin profits & run - rotate to laggards & some cash) money off the table" - Nahhh - say it aint so !

Can you imagine the audacity ? John Clarke - what possesses these people, the Chutzpah ? What are they thinking here ?

... Now, class - here's a question:

Do we want to be - out front of the crowd, or caught behind it as they flee for the exits ?

ROFLMAO ~

... allways beat the crowd to the party & never be among the last to leave ~

Ciao~

... off to techland - too much money on the shortside there today ~

ta ta for now

It's not just you. They are playing both sides.
It just happens to be on the upside this month.

That is what traders do. They run prices in one
direction as far as they can and then run them the
other way. They are also good at planting stories.

LG from the Market Direction Discussion thread has
it right about the markets:

"Think like a criminal."

It doesn't just apply to the stock market.

I should have added that I discussed this with a friend
before they raised production in March.

There is no doubt that the traders are trying to shake
the price of oil out of OPEC's desired price range so
that they can trade the volatility. They have a lot
to win here with the time lag between the decision to
boost or lower production and the time it is consumed.
When prices dropped to the low $20's I knew they were
setting up a summer crunch be stopping any chance of
more crude coming in time to refine for the summer.
Now that it is getting a little late for changes to
impact the build in gasoline for summer up the prices
run. They will push until more production comes on line,
just in time for the drop in demand during the fall.

As I said to my friend months ago, "Let the games begin".

No grin is needed. This market will not be dull.
