Big red vertical banner (changed every two weeks) built traffic back to the business Service Merchandise always owned. In the parking lot, Lincolns and BMWs converge. Inside, couples do shopping presents a lovely site. Pricing does not appear to be overly aggressive. Merchandises of old inventory disappeared. New inventory filled the store. Continuance of this activity may put the firm back on solid ground; but any promise of stockholders holding any part of the company as their own, still need management's blessings. Recently Ames management had abandoned their kiosks experiment, should be a warning to Cusano, that reduction of store size and substituting with kiosks will be painful. Recent successful discount strategy still needs touch and feel of the samples at the display. New and more attractive hot products look appealing; which more traffic building will increase revenue before X'mas. September efforts should be well planned today. Website and email promotions were amateurish. Income from banners may someday pay overhead, more efforts should be made on that subject. More idea inputs to programmers are needed from top management; where as the flyers are well presented with new merchandise. Copy of the flyer should be on the net, some day link to the shopping cart. All in all, more putting one foot in front of the other should get the job done. Successful operation of a store is building traffic with better hot merchandise; it is simple but it takes work and time for it to set in its ways. Good luck, management. Someday, give us, the stockholders, back the well run stores.
