Joe, this is exactly the route I took. I bought an S20 for $665, an additional 48M CF, a back up set of batteries and the image maker. Total cost of accessories about $150 at buy.com.

We made the decision on the S20 over the epson because resolution, size and simplicity. This camera was a good fit for the types of photos Pat takes and how he has used 35mm cameras in the past.
