O/T Interest Rates

The Hong Kong $ is pegged to the US $. As interest rates rise here, HK must also raise theirs. They can't afford to continue raising rates, judging by what has happened to their stock market (-25% since April) and and real estate recovery.

I'm probably wrong, but I can't see rates going up from here without sending Asia back into recession/depression.
