Don't even get me started on where our tax dollars are spent here. I do actually believe that the people of this country would be much better off if they owned their Social Security accounts themselves (at least a portion thereof). As I understand it would be handled similar to most company 401K accounts, and that means having a menu of mutual funds to select from, not buying and selling individual stocks in the market. If you look at it from that perspective I think it might begin to make a bit more sense.
