DOUG, I just thought of an idea: let eBay be the middleman: eBay should set up a network of "AUTHORIZED" resellers and appraisers.
Maybe eBay could require AUTHORIZED sellers/appraisers (eBay agents) to take a week of classes (like a McDonald's University type of thing i guess???) and have reps check out the agents workplace once a year for compliance of
handling inventory, that they use approved scanners and or digital camera equipment and auction posting software etc.

They can set up a fair and standard fees to resell and appraise auction items

All Authorized agents auctions would be specialy flagged that they can sell items for anyone in a certain geographic location...there could also be a listing of authorized sellers on an Image Map of the United States..Click on a state and then find one near you...etc

i.e. "This seller can sell can auction your goods & services...to find out more about this program CLICK HERE"

Dunno...just a thought!

RE:>>>we shouldn't be giving eBay these ideas for free<<<

It may have taken eBay two years to implement some of my ideas but it finally has *paid off*. I just sold an item as a Tading Assistant for 10G and i'm going to start working on Estates.

...wondering if you still read these posts Doug.....

eBay BRAINSTORM: eBay should allow sellers to give a percentage of their sales for a given auction to a not-for-profit. Such auctions could be flagged/browsed as not-for-profit fundraising. eBay could work with not-for-profits who want to enter such a program. Not-for-profits would have a set up on eBay similar to eBay stores however the not-for-profits would usually not be the seller eBay would charge a nominal fee to the not-for-profit for the service and set certain standards for Sellers who want to enter the program (i.e. registered member for 6 months, Positive feedback etc.). Not-for-profits would have a set up on eBay similar to eBay stores however the not-for-profits would usually not be the seller. Auctions would be srted not by bid price but by % donation by the seller (i.e. the larger percentage the Seller is Donating to the Not-For-Profit, the higher up the listing would be on the Not-For-Profit eBay type Store.

Cheers,
