Telecomguy,

First OIE has yet to generate any real product that I'm aware of... so well... commoditization isn't occuring. That being said, the software required within routers is changing and by the time these OIE products get to market the technology will be ancient.... which was my point when NT announced OIE... they lack the wherewithall to support it.

Conclusion... there is no evidence that OIE is having any impact whatsoever on the market. Certainly not even 1/10th the impact that Cisco is having in the optical market so seems like a good trade... and that assumes that there was OIE product out there. BTW: How's NT's router revenues and unit sales now that they cut prices 50%? Just wondering.
