JDN, Sun doesn't have baggage wrt their storage strategy? They went from Data General Clariion, I think, as a storage vendor (now owned by EMC, and does Sun get their storage there any longer?), to wasting time and money with losers like Encore. They even screwed up their website. I just went there and couldn't even find major storage or server systems. Sun does servers and solutions very well, so far, but what else? I guess nobody's perfect.

Being a software developer, I sometimes forget that SUNW actually makes its money from hardware, not software. I am troubled by some of their actions regarding Java, EJB, application servers, etc. But, really, you are correct, it's their new hardware that will be predominantly determine their future profitability.
