Hi Sherry; No, unfortunately; I am VERY serious...

Cheeky Kid mentioned the "experiment" - read beta-test of privacy invasion - with no-forewarning, or change in terms of service policies.

Unquestonably imho; Cheeky is right - Stockman on behest of SI - was "experimenting" on ways to "selectively" (for now !) monitor Private Mail on selected posters.

However - once this "selectivity" is unleashed, who is to safeguard it ? - especially since no forewarning, or terms of service notifications were updated.

Suppose the "SI Snoops" get tired of their voyeurism for "supposed" TOS enforcement and say decide to venture on over to A@)P's site - and decide to make a little money on the side by going long when A@P decide's to cover a short position etc...

Or, merely suppose that you've got some nutball - who gets bored and decides to zero in on women - monitor all their PM's - attach cookies to all your net travel - document your online behavior - and having all your private info allready; become the ultimate stalker ?

It would be quite a different story if SI sent one a warning such as - "please be alerted, do to member compliants (or whatever) your Private Mail posting priviliges may be temporarilly/permanently monitored" etc...

But; that is NOT what they CHOSE to do.

It is the decision they made - their obvious INTENT to do this the way they did - that can NEVER be explained away - they got caught red handed on this. NO EXPLANTION is acceptable - none.

No - they unleashed an OBVIOUS somewhat inept cyber-geek who SCREWED UP ROYALLY imho; and at great potential cost to SI imho.

It is important to not only know that they did this sereptiously but that there are no obvious controls to its use/abuse....

This is beyond a major relationship violation with its membership - it is an assault and a permanent destruction of ALL of its future credibility on ANY & ALL PRIVACY issue's !

Cat's outta the bag now... prepare for the "spin control".

SI credibility is now zero in the privacy arena.

Especially in a software age with cookies that can track every web site you visit, the time spent there etc- SI obviouslly allready has all your personal info, credit card #'s - now they can not only monitor your online postings, your online surfing & web behavior, but also - obviously; your private mail.

The SI hand was caught in the Privacy Cookie Jar - quite simply there is NO ACCEPTABLE WAY to explain, or spin control this away - none.

PS... this IS the tip of the iceberg fwiw folks.

Lots more to this story - its not new fwiw.
