Sounds just like m'dog Ralph. Laszlo too. Highly instinctive and tuned into their "owner." Canine police officers I have known have expressed the same sentiments re obedience being the enemy of instinct in working dogs, and their points are well taken ........ however........ like children and other humans, there are some things that companion housedogs must get the hang of to be fit to live with.

I and mine have been welcomed in some of the finest hotels in the US of A. After the fact. But that's another story or two. <g>

<edit> I just read JB's previous post. I don't know what to say. He's going to have a field day with this post. What to do, what to do.

I know, I think I'll have a bloody mary, sans durian. It's way past my bedtime. I have to be at work at 1:00 this morning . . . at the local trauma center.
