Hello Ted, This is my first post to any of the CNBC crew so let me first say that I think the service you all provide can be invaluable when used properly. Now...I hope this doesn't seem too forward but I have to ask... What in the world was the thought process behind devoting all that time Friday morning on CIEN without a single second given to information such as a blown rollout of 2 new products coupled with higher materials' costs: _________________________________________ Linthicum, Maryland, May 19 (Bloomberg) Chief Executive Pat Nettles yesterday said Ciena no longer expects to sell $50 million to $100 million of two new products this fiscal year. The company now expects no sales from one and less than $50 million from the other. Ciena had to pay more for electronic parts in the recent quarter and could face similar pressure on fiber-optic components, Nettles said. ``New product launches are important,'' said Nicholas Roe- Ely, manager of the Tilney U.S. Mid Cap Fund at Tilney Investment Management in Liverpool, U.K. ``For the first time, they're alluding to potential problems or products that aren't selling.'' Roe-Ely said he doesn't plan to sell any Ciena shares. __________________________________________ ....or that this is a stock in an environment of rising interest rates with a PE of 2330 including extraordinary items or 4480 excluding extraordinary items? It seems to me that the ball was dropped insofar as balanced reporting...especially considering that the time given to the issue was quite a significant chunk...prior to the open. It was especially interesting that a certain amount of impact was given to a claim that there is a high degree of visibility concerning the company's prospects right in the face of the blown rollout. Don't get me wrong...I did not haul off and buy based on what was aired (I shorted the stock a bit ago based on critical aspects of the chart's technical profile) but it did appear that with all the resources available, a more balanced approach would have been more helpful in regard to dissemination of ALL pertinent info. regards, Doug R
