Doug,

In India, where I grew up, everyone buys gold, including the farmers. This affinity for gold has been as ancient as civilization. To this date the affinity for has not subsided.

This only leads me to believe that the ultimate currency has to be gold. The might US dollar may be king for a few more centuries, but gold will live forever. Gold is no fiat money. Can't produce it at will.

If gypsies are accumulating some of the shiny stuff, I would say they are pretty smart, regardless of which nation they come from. I get a feeling that you do like gypsies ??
