Hey speedy I just listened to the STBY conference call and think AJ came off very well. I didn't realize he's been involved with the vermiculite industry since the late 80's.

Of note is this Equities Magazine conference he will be at on June 13 in NYC. I'd like to know more about that, and what comes out of it. Like do they do a feature article or something??

equitiesmagazine.com

Dillon capacity now 30,000 tons/year, they hope to increase that to 45,000. 30,000 tons/year translates to before tax operation profit of $3MM/year - $4.5MM at 45,000 tons.

Los Banos exfoliation plant now 5000 tons/year giving pretax operating profit of $1MM/year, and they plan to increase that to 15,000 tons - $3MM/year.

Safety - I liked the references to their stringent standards, the highest in the world at Dillon... and the bit about the health risk working there akin to smoking ONE cigarette in your lifetime.

World demand this year about 500,000 tons. 80% or 400,000 tons of that is used by the U.S. STBY has a HUGE advantage over the competition in freight costs. And when you are shipping something like sand and gravel, or vermiculite in this case, I'd figure freight costs are a big part of the business.

The call is worth listening to IMO.
