Hello, Clappy, May I use your note to advise porchers of SI's admission this very morning in fact by a John Busby, G2Net employee, and posted on the "Welcome to Silicon Investor" thread that there has been a breach of SI's Private Message "privacy"...an oxymoron if I ever uttered one.

http://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=16294

SI's admission, through mouthpiece Busby has not been as "loud" as the trampled privacy transgressions. These breaches of SI/User ethics which have been well documented by various SIers reporting their altered PM replies getting re-routed to David Stockwell instead of intended recipient, and subsequent public howling to SI via that thread in particular, are serious in my opinion.

Furthermore, Busby has posted said admission on various threads --verify by clicking on his name and scanning his profile and recent postings this weekend re this matter!
Why this isn't the subject of a Broadcast PM by SI MGMT ---too obvious I suppose when one thinks about it-- is a mystery to me. If SI/Go2 doesn't quicly implement the "tampered Tylenol" PR spin modality to handle this tempest, the teapot has an interesting boil over effect dead ahead as the media gets ahold of this tidbit and "the street" potentially slams Go2Net's stock as the result. Might make the Double-Click story look tame...

I believe Dealer was the first one to alert us porchers of this weekend's surfacing of the beta-testing snooping/tracking of SI's PMs when she returned from her trip and tried to catch up with her SI mail.

What is unclear, at least to me, is if "fix" is a "permanent fix" i.e., John Busby states that the PM source code has been changed to "fix" the problem.

If said hacker/tracker tech-head got the original source code, how difficult would it be for him/her to secure the revised one?<duh>

It is also unclear as to whether or not the unintended surfacing of this problem was because SI mgmt itself was "caught" unobservedly testing said PM monitoring capability or if it was an "outside hacker" job.

There is even an interesting "David Stockwell" posted reply on the above mentioned thread claiming 2 or 3 more breach of security issues with SI affecting their constituents. Anyone up for a good conspiracy this am? :{

Anyway, just thought I'd post a verifiable name--Busby, and verifiable thread--"Welcome" for interested porchers to check out for themselves and to take appropriate action to their own best interests.

Not that I'm the trusting sort in my advancing years, but, "Heaven help us," and "Mercy on us all!"

Clappie- You cannot continue to do a job you hate. Find a way to transition into a new venture. You give great advice to others on this thread...listen to some of it.
