Note that I am granting up front the GSM upgrade to GPRS. I assume that is a given - just as 1X is for CDMA.

But I was stimulated to think of this by Mika who asked what happens to the old or current GSM spectrum. If that could move toward the provision of rapid data sooner rather than later, then rapid data could be a major use for the old or residual frequency. It hit me that HDR could have a role in that. I assume that cultural, bureaucratic, and other barriers will prevent that happening in Europe. But how about elsewhere (let's take China for instance)?
