Case is not closed--You don't get away that easy--
from--
global-crossing.co.uk

Global Crossing and Metromedia Fiber Networks JV, providing international infrastructure to carriers. (and it points to
ionworld.com )

Since Global Crossing just closed the acquistion of Racal Telecom, it bleeds into the JV stuff Racal was into. The
"International Optical Network", ION homepage is not even
as advanced as the Global Crossing UK homepage. They are
not hiding it--just slow

OK, you submarine cable types-- Here is some interesting
stuff (I found while digging in FCC International Bureau
documents for tarriff filings for ION).

Landing permits--http://www.fcc.gov/ib/td/pf/scll.html

and links--http://www.fcc.gov/ib/wrc00/ol/othlinks.html

That is your homework, Frank ;-)
