Flasher targeting health clubs, tanning salons Associated Press -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOULDER ? A flasher known as Tight-Man, is targeting women at health clubs and tanning salons along the Front Range, according to police from Fort Collins to Federal Heights and farther afield. Similar incidents have been reported in Boulder, Westminster, Jefferson County, Thornton, Federal Heights and Fort Collins. "He is everywhere," said Boulder police Detective Melissa Kampf. "The M.O. is so similar and the description is so similar, we're convinced it's the same person." In Boulder, the cases date to March 1999. Thirteen women say they were approached by a petite man wearing revealing, skintight Spandex pants or tight swim briefs. The women said the man's line went something like this: "I hate to ask you, but I'm going to a gym to work out and I wonder if these shorts are appropriate." "Almost to a person, they have said he kind of acts embarrassed that he has to ask," Kampf said. In some cases, the women said the man pulled down his shorts and exposed himself. Fort Collins police say they have had six reports this year ? one at an apartment-complex leasing office and five at health clubs and tanning salons. Investigators think there could be other unreported cases. Police also fear the incidents could escalate to more serious crimes. The suspect is described as white, in his late 30s or early 40s, with a medium build and light-colored hair. There appears to be evidence of herpes on his genitals. The alleged victims said he appears physically fit but mentally unstable. May 22, 2000
