wolfdog2,

Can you anticipate anybody dumping "palm" and keeping "coms"? The majority of investors want "palm" period. "coms" is an unknown variable right now, whereas "palm" is not. What does "coms" do right now? Many investors can not answer that question, whereas the business plan for "palm" is well known.

"coms" management has addressed the issue of "coms" by stating that a stock buyback plan has been increased.

From WSJ "Some analysts have expressed concern that the option adjustment could result in massive dilution of 3Com, by issuing hundreds of millions of new options. Chris Paisley, 3Com's CFO ,said in an interview that the share repurchase program is intended to mitigate the dilution"
So that's were 1 billion of cash will indirectly end up, in insiders pockets. Of course 3Com stock will be dumped after Palm distribution. IMHO the current value of 3Com reflects an anticipated value of 3Com post distribution of around 10 bucks, at least in the first few weeks after distribution.
